LONDON (AFP) – London shares edged up at the start of trading on Friday building on the previous day's advances after the flotation of Swiss commodities giant Glencore.
The benchmark FTSE 100 index climbed 0.26 percent to 5,972.01 points in early deals.
On Thursday the blue chip index rose 0.55 percent to close at 5,955.99 points.
Glencore, the world's biggest commodities trader by revenue, said Thursday that it had raised about £6.1 billion ($10 billion) through an initial public offering set at 530 pence per share.
At this price, the group is valued at about ã36.6 billion ($59.2 billion) and the listing marks the biggest IPO so far this year.
